Enhancing Public Safety & Consistency in Building Code Compliance
The Building Officials' Association of British Columbia (BOABC) has engaged M. Reinstein and Associates to assist with consultation and research into possible changes to the Building Officials' Association of BC Act. The BOABC is currently in discussions with the provincial government on changes that, if approved, would make BOABC certification mandatory for any person employed as a Building Official in the province of BC. The information we obtain from this consultation will form part of those ongoing discussions.
We are anxious to hear your views on this proposal. A short background paper and brief questionnaire is posted on the BOABC website at www.boabc.org under the Latest Newletter, Spring 2010. The questionnaire is designed as a fillable form that can be saved and completed on your computer and e-mailed back to Marnie Reinstein at marnier@uniserve.com. The deadline for responses is April 15, 2010. Please click below.

CCMC Business Review Update
This is the follow up from last summer's communication regarding the
CCMC Business Review. Overall, they received good feedback from
Building Officials across the country.
The report produced at the end of phase 2 of the CCMC business review is now available on the CCMC website (click on link below). It summarizes how key stakeholders perceive the role, mandate and services of the CCMC and its relationship to the Canadian construction industry. Feedback is welcome, and anyone wishing to provide comments, ideas, or suggestions can do so by sending them to Francine Belzile by phone at 514-234-3993 or by email at Francine.belzile@brioconseils.com.
